The Power of Giving: How One Shift Transformed My Business
There comes a moment in every entrepreneur’s journey when everything seems to come to a standstill. The sales stop, the bills pile up, and doubt creeps in. For me, that moment was terrifying. I found myself asking, Should I give it all up? Do I need to find a nine-to-five job?

I had done everything I knew—created offers, marketed my business, and served my clients—but nothing was working. Panic set in. I started blaming external factors: The economy is bad. Maybe my prices are too high. Maybe it’s the algorithm. The questions swirled in my mind, but the truth was, I needed a breakthrough.

The Shift That Changed Everything
In the midst of my struggle, I remembered a story from the Bible about a woman who felt like she had nothing left to give. But when she focused on what she did have, everything changed. That’s when it hit me—I had something valuable: my knowledge.

Instead of focusing on what I lacked, I asked myself, How can I give? Not in a strategic, calculated way that business owners often do, but with genuine generosity. I decided to show up daily, offering value to people without expecting anything in return.

The 20 Cents Strategy
I adopted a method inspired by Gary Vaynerchuk—what I call the 20 Cents Strategy. The idea was simple: Every day, I had $1 worth of value to give, and I would distribute it in 20-cent increments to as many people as possible.

I engaged in conversations online.

I answered questions in communities.

I offered insights without pitching my services.

This shift in mindset—from getting to serving—transformed my business. It reignited my passion, removed the pressure, and, most importantly, attracted clients who saw my value and wanted to pay for it.

Why Giving Works
When we operate from a place of scarcity, potential clients can sense it. But when we give freely, we create trust, establish credibility, and shift our energy to one of abundance. People started to think, If she’s giving this much for free, imagine what it’s like to work with her!

How to Apply This to Your Business
If your business is slow, I challenge you to start giving. Here’s how:

Treat everyone like a paid client. Offer value generously, regardless of whether someone has the ability to pay you today.

Give without expecting immediate returns. Trust that the right people will come when the time is right.

Keep going even when it feels like too much. The more you give, the more you receive.

Your Next Step
This mindset shift saved my business—not just once, but multiple times. If you’re in a season where nothing seems to be working, this is your sign to start giving.
